Hello everyone, my name is YU Wei and I'm a student at ISPA.
First of all, I'd like to thank Julie for offering to write this introduction about my sponsor and me. I think sponsorship is a great opportunity to meet new French friends. Indeed, I had already visited France from November 2016 to January 2017, but at that time I hadn't been able to make any real connections with the French.
So it was in August 2017 that I obtained my visa for France and arrived on September 21. Three days later, I met my sponsor Pierrick Hauguel at the ISPA meet-up evening. We quickly hit it off.
Two weeks later, Pierrick asked me if I'd like to become his godson. I hadn't planned to find a godfather, so I was delighted with his proposal! So I gladly accepted.
After that, we met up again to attend a concert in a bar. It was also my first time in a bar in France. Despite the fact that I couldn't understand the lyrics, we had a great time.
In December, I moved into a new apartment. I had a lot of luggage, as I had to move everything I'd accumulated over the autumn. Luckily, Pierrick was able to help me out with the car! Thanks to him, we only had to make one round trip. Afterwards, he gave me a congratulatory cake for my move.
In January, I spent my birthday in France for the second time, but this time I was better accompanied as I was able to celebrate with all my French friends, including Pierrick. He gave me a Garfield comic book and my teacher added a volume of Asterix and the Gauls to my collection.
In February, I organized a Chinese New Year party with my fellow students. Pierrick helped me correct the communication texts for the event and make posters on Photoshop. I found that French students are more practical than Chinese students when it comes to this sort of thing.
I recently took my mock exams and scored 17.7 in the oral. I would like to thank Pierrick for his help throughout my stay in France. He helps me to improve my oral comprehension and to familiarize myself with French culture.
