Practical information
What's it all about?

Our propaedeutic music program focuses on three aspects: improving learners' level of French, learning the fundamentals of musical training and culture , and practicing their instrument.

To achieve this, teaching is shared between ISPA and its partner, the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional d'Amiens Métropole.

Partner establishment: Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional d'Amiens Métropole our partner.

Objective

This program aims to provide learners with a solid foundation for successful studies in a professional music curriculum in France.

The routes

The Preparatory Program in Music is available in two tracks:

Autumn course

The Autumn course runs from September to July. It is accessible from A2 level, and requires a baccalaureate (or equivalent) as a minimum.

Spring Course

The Spring course runs from May to July of the following year. It is open to students at A2 level and above, and requires a baccalauréat level (or equivalent) as a minimum. It includes an additional course entitled "Programme introductif", which focuses on an intensive study of French and, as the name suggests, serves as an introduction to a propaedeutic program starting in September. Please note that specialty courses start in September.

Admission

The propaedeutic music program is shared with the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional d'Amiens Métropole. Places are limited, so you'll need to follow a specific admission procedure, including a completed application form and a motivational interview. Applicants must have a baccalaureate and at least A2 level in French. Musical ability as well as study and career plans will be carefully examined.

Course schedule

In this program, two major training units are developed:

  • Language unit: language and French music courses.
  • Method and specialty units: musical training, musical culture, instrumental or vocal training, and group practice.

As daily practice of your instrument is essential, you'll be able to practice every day at ISPA, where a specially equipped studio is available.

Staying in France

For students from abroad, ISPA offers a number of complementary services (accommodation, reception and administrative procedures) that can be included in the training package.
